Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech, believes that the Blues have what it takes to retain their Champions League crown next term, despite their outside-favourite odds on the sport betting sites.
The 30-year-old, who is preparing for his ninth season with the club, was one of the heroes of May's penalty shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich, helping Chelsea lift the trophy for the first time.
Cech says that was the moment Chelsea "joined the best in the world"; he expects an improved squad to push on in the new season.
"We know we can challenge anyone, this season, and we must try to become the first team to win the Champions League for the second season running," said the Czech international.
"We have had some very good signings come into the club. Everyone wants to join Chelsea and be part of this club again."
Under Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea rescued a season which seemed destined for mediocrity. The Blues finished sixth in the Premier League but ended the campaign with two trophies.
Di Matteo has moved to strengthen his squad, this summer. Ageing players have left the club to be replaced by up-and-coming talent, with Belgian forward, Eden Hazard, and German winger, Marko Marin, making the move to Stamford Bridge. Brazilian attacking midfielder, Oscar, is widely expected to join them in West London.
Cech joined Chelsea from Rennes for £7million in 2004, and has played more games for the club than any other foreign player. He has reiterated his desire to stay in the Barclays Premier League and add to the 10 trophies he has won in his time at Stamford Bridge.
"I have signed another contract for four years and I would like to stay with Chelsea. I feel like part of the club; it is like my second family," added Cech.
